Seven fishermen were arrested for illegally fishing off the coast of Santa Fe town in Bantayan Island.
Ricky Batiancila, Rene Batiancila, Bernardo demera, Samuel Capangpangan, Edgardo Gimenez, Bryan Derder and Castor Coyoca were spotted fishing in the seawaters of Barangay Baigad on Wednesday morning.
PO2 Ronald Capuyan of Santa Fe police said the group’s 80,000 worth of fishing boat, as well as 12 kilograms of assorted fish, were confiscated from their possession
The suspect, who are all from Barangay Hilatangan in the same town, are now detained pending the filing of appropriate charges against them.
