BINIBINING CEBU 2017: Miss Mandaue City and Miss Ginatilan

COME pageant on October 28, 54 lovely candidates will compete for the first ever Binibining Cebu crown.

Let’s get to know more of the ladies wearing the sashes of Mandaue City and Ginatilan, respectively: Malka Shaver and May Ann Solidad J. Acodejo:

Malka Shaver

Age: 22

City: Mandaue City 

Hobbies/Interests: Climbing, island hopping, surfing,  exercise, yoga, boxing, CrossFit

School: Siliman University (Mass Communication)

Titles: Miss Dumaguete 2014 and Miss Mandaue 2016, Hiyas Nan Carrascal 2017 2nd runner-up

BINIBINING Cebu is Malka Shaver’s fifth pageant but this is the first time she is working with the team of Kagandahang Flores and Jonas Borces.

Shaver is the official candidate of Mandaue City and she can now feel that the training is serious and remains positive and enthusiastic.  “Now knowing just how world class Mandaue is, I can say that Mandaue is unassuming.

They go about excellence like it is all in a day’s work. That is just the standard in Mandaue.

It is not something people subscribe to just to be praised, it is just the nature of every Mandauehanon.

Nothing is ever half baked. People probably don’t know that as the manufacturing capital in this part of the country, we are home to the world’s finest products,” she said.

Furniture pieces from world-renowned brands such as Ralph Lauren, Ethan Allen and  Dedon are made in Mandaue City as well as fabrics of Chanel and Louis Vuitton.

“I’m also very proud to be representing a town that created an ordinance solely to protect the LGBTQ community,” she added.

 

May Ann Solidad J. Acodejo 

Age: 25 

Town: Ginatilan

Hobbies/Interests: Making coffee, running, and volleyball Job: Barista 

IT IS May Ann Solidad J. Acojedo’s dream join a pageant and she never thought she’d be one of the candidates for the first ever Binibining Cebu.

Acojedo is wearing the sash of Ginatilan, a town in southern Cebu which is 144.9 kilometers away from Cebu City.

Ginatilan is known for Inambakan falls and Acojedo said that a Japanese volunteer recently discovered a cave with waterfalls, which is under further study.

“People from Ginatilan are very friendly. They treat everyone as family,” she added.
