KIMLEX handed the SG-ARQ Builders their first loss of the 2017 Mayor Eddie Gullas Cup basketball tournament with a 114-97 decision Thursday night at the Talisay City Sports Complex.
John Villaver and Eric Zanoria played leading roles in getting Kimlex its second win in as many games as the former scored 19 of his 27 points in the first half while the latter took over in the second half, where 20 of his 22 points were delivered.
Veteran guard Alex Cainglet led the way for the Builders (1-1) with 28 points.
Kimlex and SG/ARQ comprise Bracket B along with ASPA Scaffolding and Shereen, while San Remigio Properties, Fighter Wine Fighter Fifty, and Christwil/EGS Asia make up Bracket A.
Teams will play a single round-robin in their bracket with the top two finishers moving on to the crossover semis. The winners there will advance to the one-game championship.
