116 arrested, P1.6M shabu confiscated

At least P1.6 million worth of drugs were confiscated from 56 individuals during the implementation of Oplan Pokemon of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) on Friday.

About 60 other individuals were also arrested for various offenses which included illegal gambling, possession of deadly weapons and violation of a city ordinance that prohibits drinking of liquor in public places under CCPO’s One Time, Big Time campaign.

The suspects totaling to 116 are now detained at the 11 police stations in the city while police prepare for the filing of charges against them.

Police Superintendent Ryan Devaras, chief of the Investigation Detection Management Branch (IDMB) of CCPO, said their continued implementation of their One Time, Big Time campaign is a means to deter, if not eliminate, criminality in the city.

This week’s operation was implemented from midnight on Friday until 3 p.m. of the same day.

Among those arrested were 56 drug suspects especially those coming from the drug-prone barangays of Lorega, Carreta, Day-as, Sambag I and II.

Of those arrested, one was considered by police a high-value target while the 55 others are street-level pushers.

Emelita Cabaluna was arrested in a buy-bust operation in her residence in Upper Suran, Paradise 2, Barangay Kinasang-an, Cebu City after three weeks of police monitoring.

Cabaluna is the live-in-partner of a certain Eric Alo who was arrested early this year for drug possession and is now detained at the Cebu City Jail.
Alo was earlier detained at the National Bilibid Prison but was released after he served his jail sentence.

Police said that Cabaluna was arrested for possession of 26 small packs of shabu worth at least P30,000 after a poseur buyer bought drugs from her at around 1 a.m. on Friday.

Cabaluna, who is considered a high-value target, is able to dispose 25 to 100 grams of drugs per week.
