THE UNIVERSITY of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) suffered another humiliating defeat, this time a 27-0 crushing against the Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Greywolves in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) secondary football tournament at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.

Just last Saturday, USJ-R also got waylaid by secondary division champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), 12-0.

But just when they thought things couldn’t get any worse, the Jaguars ran straight into a DBTC team that was on a roll.

Josh Asignar scored most of the goals for DBTC with seven while teammate E.R Orale, Glenn Thomas Ramos and Vince Pacaña each scored four goals.

The other goals were scattered by the rest of the team.

DBTC remains unbeaten and currently leads the standings in the secondary division with nine points followed by the defending champion, SHS-AdC with two wins and a single loss while University of San Carlos-Basic Education (USC-BED) and University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) are tied at third place with one win and one defeat.

SHS-AdC pulled off a big win yesterday by blanking USPF, 3-0, in the other secondary division match.

Leo Maquiling, Ray Barro and Kiann Partosa each scored for SHS-AdC.

Upset

In the collegiate division, University of the Visayas (UV) also staged a big upset by beating the defending champion, USC, 1-0, courtesy of John Vargas, who scored the lone goal two minutes into the match.

USC’s defenders suffered a big blunder after they thought there was an offside when Vargas attacked their goal leaving him alone with their goal keeper.
