VERNON Anfone converted crucial freethrows to help ASPA Formwork escape Team Princess, 97-95, and win the title of the Tough Gear Sportswear City Hoops Basketball League Season 2 – Talisay last Sunday at the Vista Grande gym in Bulacao, Talisay City.
ASPA banked on the late-game heroics of Warren Cañete and Anfone’s freebies to seal the title-clinching win.
It was also a revenge of sorts as ASPA lost to Team Princess in the elimination round.
Anfone finished with 30 points and took home the Finals MVP honors while Carl Valencia and Ritchie Cesa backstopped him with 21 and 12, respectively.
Former University of San Carlos big man Enrico Llanto led Team Princess with 29 points.
The tournament is organized by Tough Gear Sportswear and is sponsored by Print Ideas, Cobra Energy Drink, VDrink Malunggay Juice, and U Shape Up Gym and Spa.
