Red Cross Lapu-Cordova chapter elects new chair, BOD

A NEW set of Board of Directors of the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter was elected during its annual assembly at a hotel in Lapu-Lapu City on September 15.

Dr. Mario Amores became the new chairman after he was unanimously elected by the newly elected Board of Directors.

Amores got 81 votes, replacing former Lapu-Lapu City administrator and chairman of Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter Teodulo Ybañez, who only got 49 votes.

The 13 other newly elected Board of Directors were Colleen Barcelona, Arvin Abing, Cuizon Eduardo, Maita Manglapus, Marrieta Layaguin, Jeffrey Chan, Jaime Glomar, Norman Mendoza and Jonas Quilantang from Lapu-Lapu City, and Paulo Tagsip, Wan Cho, Vincent Benitez and Dr. Efren Dico from Cordova.

The election of the Board of Directors was officiated by the Philippine Red Cross executives from Manila Central Office.

The newly elected Board of Directors will again meet for assignment of the different committees.

More than half of the newly elected Board of Directors are newcomers but willing to share their time and talents for the organization whose advocacy is to save lives, preparedness and discipline.

Vic Jay Gonzal, manager of the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova chapter, said the new set of Board of Directors are capable of carrying the mission of PRC.

“The Philippine Red Cross is not a government agency. It relies on donation of time, money and blood. Thus, we need willing people,” said Gonzal.
