BINIBINING CEBU 2017: Miss Samboan and San Remigio

CEBU will crown another queen via its newest pageant, Binibining Cebu happening on Oct. 28. We’re down to our last two ladies vying for the title: Gretchen Bilagantol of Samboan and Sherlyn Camille Uy of San Remigio.

Gretchen Bilagantol

Age: 19

Town: Samboan

Hobbies/Interests: Doing household chores, reading newspapers and magazines

School: Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management at CTU-Main Campus

Titles: Miss Founders 2011 4th runner up, Miss Santa Rosa 2011 2nd runner up, Miss Palanas 2012 1st runner up, Miss Samboan National High School 2012 2nd runner up, Miss Aguinid Tourism 2013 2nd runner up, and Miss Calendar Girl 2013

IT IS an honor for Gretchen Bilagantol to be one of the candidates for the first ever Binibining Cebu.

Bilagantol is the official candidate for Samboan known as the “Waterfall Capital of Cebu” as it has 10 waterfalls.

“My hometown is already one of the most visited towns in southern Cebu but there are places that remain largely unexplored and may be the best that we can offer,” she said. Samboan is also part of the Tanoñ Strait Protected Seascape, which is rich with marine ecosystem.

The town also has Saint Michael the Archangel Church, an old Spanish built church, a watchtower, and old houses.

Sherlyn Camille Uy

Age: 22 

Town: San Remigio

Hobbies/Interests: Reading, going to the gym, boxing, playing ultimate and painting

Job: Professional model

JOINING pageants has been Sherlyn Camille Uy’s passion and this time she is trying her luck for the Binibining Cebu title.

Uy is the official candidate for San Remigio, a town in northern Cebu which is three hours away from Cebu City.

“Everytime people ask me what’s there I am always proud to say that we have the longest shoreline in the whole Cebu province. It’s 44 kilometers long. So if you would just like to get away from the urban life and relax, you can take a long walk in our shoreline,” she said.

A Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) dive shop was also established in the town recently.

Aside from the beaches and resorts, the town has a historical landmark like the San Juan Nepomuceno Church, which was established during the 1800s.
