Mr. Visayas Tropics promotes responsible tourism

Serge Fiel

PROTECTING the environment  is a responsible way of promoting tourism. Serge Fiel, the newly crowned Mr. Visayan Tropics 2017, encourages the public to be responsible tourists.

“You cannot enjoy the place if you do not take care of it,” Fiel told Cebu Daily News in an interview last week.

The pageant promotes responsible tourism, marketing, and goodwill and unity among fellowmen.

“It is also a responsibility to tell the people that there is a place to visit but we should also take care of it. Example, they must be responsible sa ilang basura,” he added. Fiel is the second to win the Mr. Visayan Tropics title.

He bested 14 other candidates during the pageant held last September 16 at Sugbahan Restaurant in Mandaue City and organized by Visayan Tropics Outfitters and Steff Enriquez Photography.

The judging system was done through online voting. Fiel’s official photo gained 1,200 likes making him the grand winner.  Mr. Tropics Visayas 2017 is Fiel’s comeback in pageantry after he stopped joining during his college years.

Fiel, 26, works as a banker in Cebu City.  After winning the title, he  is set to visit the different provinces in Visayas to attend different activities and promote its tourism.  He said he is  ready to join national pageants if given the chance to represent Cebu.
