CEBUANA netter and reigning 18-under girls champion Elizabeth Abarquez showed she is focused on retaining her title in the Citigreen Tennis Cup.
This after the 16-year-old Abarquez blew past Jan Camille Villar, 8-1, to advance to the semifinal round in the 18-U girls division of the tournament’s third edition at the La Paloma Tennis Courts in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
With her victory, Abarquez who hails from Carcar, southern Cebu, will be taking on Janelle Llavore in today’s semifinal round.
Ellaine Bahonsua and Ghylliana Yu, meanwhile, make up the other semifinal pairing in the division.
Bahonsua won via walkover against Gennifer Pagente while Yu blanked May Aniñon, 8-0, to advance to the final four.
In the 14-U girls’ division, unseeded Corazon Lambonao of Ormoc City continued her amazing run as she defeated third-seed Safina Solon, 8-3, to move to the semifinals.
In other games, Al Rasheed Lucman punched the first ticket to the 10-unisex semifinals after beating Cebuano Aaron Kevin Tabura, 4-1, 4-2.
