THE 2001 Dynacast completed a perfect run through the elimination round of Division B Sunday after beating Kogi-Q-Riway 37, 72-63, in the 22nd SHAABAA Basketball Tournament Powered by Common Ground at the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.
Dynacast finished the round with a clean 10-0 record and will head to the playoffs, which begins this Sunday as the top seed.
Josef Reoma led Batch 2001 with 15 points and nine rebounds while JP Cabrera and Erwin Ngo had 14 markers each. Wendell Ong added 12 for Dynacast, which will face the eighth-seeded 1999 AutoLAB in the quarterfinals.
Kogi-Q-Riway 37 is now seeded third with an 8-2 card and will tackle 2002 San Remegio in the quarters.
In other Division B games, the 1996 White Gold Club rallied from an early deficit to take down the 2002 San Remegio Properties, 73-61. White Gold Club was down, 12-22 after the first but gradually cut its deficit before taking over down the stretch to snatch the win and the fifth seed.
Two-guard Junie Alejandro flirted with a rare triple-double with 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. Big man Gio Borromeo added 15 points on top of nine boards, four assists, four steals and a blocked shot.
The 1995 Savers Depot nabbed the fourth seed after nipping the 1999 AutoLAB, 52-45. Ian Ong, Neil Elumba and Rhet Tomakin each had 13 points and combined for a whopping 33 rebounds. Batch 1995 will be facing Batch 1996 in the next round.
