Back to basics for Ateneo de Cebu girls volleyball team

BEFORE the Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) became a success story in the league last year, the team was just pushover when it entered the Cesafi girls volleyball tournament in 2011.

Things changed fast for the Magis Eagles as they made it to the 2015 finals and finally won the title the year after.

But the defending champions Magis Eagles faltered this year, missing out the final four due to the quotient system.

SHS-AdC finished the season tied for fourth with the University of Cebu and the University of San Carlos with identical 3-4 (win-loss) cards, but the Baby Webmasters went on to advance because of a higher quotient.

Magis Eagles coach Mario Sala said the team has accepted its fate this season and is looking forward to the next season.

“I will personally direct the team to start back the way we started before when we were practically unknown to the volleyball community,” Sala said.
According to Sala, he already knows what to do to prepare the team for the future.

“We will deepen our reflection on understanding what really motivates us to train every day and determine if that motivation justifies with all the amount of time and efforts we will be wasting in our practices,” he said.
