THE Cebu Architects Basketball Club kicks off its maiden season today with six teams vying for hardcourt supremacy over at the Benedicto College Gym along A.S. Fortuna St. in Mandaue City.
Some 120 architects from all over the city have been drafted into six different teams that bear the names of the major sponsors. These are Phelps Dodge, Island Premium Paints, Kalsi, Unitec, Boysen Paints and Davies Paints.
Minor sponsors Cebu Home Builders Center and Kreg Construction Development Corp also back the league.
At the helm of this tournament are the Board of Directors led by President Klein Baladya, Vice President-Internal Paolo Alberto, Vice President-External Justin Aspacio, Secretary Mondix Verano, Treasurer Oliver Tan, Auditor Alan Choachuy and PRO Richard Abello.
The tournament is actually a successor of the United Architects Basketball Club, which previously held tournaments that included undergraduates. However this time around, the CABC only caters to licensed architects.
Teams will play a single round-robin in the elimination round with the top four advancing to the semifinals. The top two finishers will enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage over the lower seeds.
The championship round will be a best-of-three affair.
