THE Don Bosco Boys Home under-15 and under-18 teams scored lopsided victories to open their campaign in the 19th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Cebu City Sports Center football pitch yesterday.
Don Bosco first blanked Pomeroy FC, 4-0, in a highly physical boys under-15 match.
Angelo Banog-banog opened Don Bosco’s scoring binge with a goal at the 22nd minute while Joshua Ares scored a brace by finding the back of the net at the 52nd and 70th minutes. Del Honor Maglasang completed the rout with a 60th minute conversion.
Don Bosco Boys Home FC was assessed a red card while Pomeroy FC has four yellow cards.
The Bosconians were more merciless in the boys under-18, as it trashed Tabor Hills, 6-0 on goals by Mark Ian Vergara, Johnrey Delibios, Robert Jumapit, Kent Israel Perez, Robert Tabuelog and Cyrus John Paca.
Their sister team, Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Team C scored a 1-1 draw with the Sisters of Mary Boystown also in the under-15 class.
Romel Villamor scored the first goal for Sisters of Mary Boystown in the 13th minute but John Orbi scored the equalizer for DBTC at the 34th minute.
In other matches, Bright Academy FC beat Sisters of Mary Boystown in their under-18 duel, 2-0, on Chandlier Argo’s brace at the 52nd and 53rd minutes while Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) leaned on Sydney Kamichi’s conversion to beat Samanthabadra FC, 1-0 in the boys under-15 action.
Games continue today at the Paref Springdale and DBTC football pitches from morning to afternoon featuring the boys under-13, ladies open, girls under-15, under-11, under-9 and under-7 mixed, inter-BPO, inter-company, 45-above and 35 above divisions.
