TIPPING BOX

Netizens were skeptical of the plan by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to put up “tip boxes” in all barangays in Cebu City where people could drop the names of those involved in illegal drug activities.
.
Chevy Kathleen Cuizon commented on Facebook, “So dumb. We are pro-war on drugs but this move is so dumb. I hope the Duterte administration can check on this matter and weigh things. Name shaming is not a good solution to prevent drugs.”

William Santos had the same sentiment. “You actually think people won’t just drop names of people they do not like? Amazing how stupid people can be to think that this might work.”

Aia posted on Twitter her stand on DILG’s plan. She wrote, “It’s intimidating to drop names on the box. There are so many pranksters in the barangay and it doesn’t look safe and confidential to me.”

A netizen with the Twitter handle @upanddownaisla expressed concern on the safety of people dropping names on the tip box. “What if the people dropping names will be harassed? This is not favorable in any means.”
