The regional Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-7) said they are ready to spearhead the government’s anti-drug operations after Presidente Rodrigo Duterte confirmed their mandate in a memo he issued last Tuesday.
Leia Albiar, regional spokesperson of PDEA-7 told reporters that they have to follow the order of the president. She, however, said that they haven’t received the copy of executive order of the present but they will accept it.
“We lack manpower and resources so we have to coordinate with our partner law enforcement agencies,” PDEA regional spokesperson Leia Albiar said. She said they may hire additional personnel to augment their operations especially in filling cases against drug personalities.
Insp. Llewelyn Reyes, Cebu City police spokesperson, said they still have to receive the copy of the memorandum of their national headquarters on what to do.
Supt. Ryan Devaras, chief of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Cebu City police said they can still arrest drug personalities caught selling or using drugs.
