REIGNING champions Southwestern University (SWU) – Phinma and the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) are a win away from forging their third consecutive finals date as they blasted separate opponents in the round-robin semifinals of the F2 Logistics Cesafi women’s volleyball tournament yesterday at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) gym.
The Lady Cobras, who are gunning for an exceptional five-peat, registered a 25-21, 25-22, 26-24 triumph over USPF while USJ-R defeated the University of San Carlos (USC), 25-21, 25-20, 24-26, 25-23.
One more win will finalize their championship rematch.
However, the road to the finals isn’t expected to be a smooth one for SWU and USJ-R as their next opponents are the ones who gave both a tough time during the elimination round.
SWU will be going up against USC, which is the only team that forced a five-setter against the Lady Cobras this season. USJ-R, on the other hand, looks to get back at USPF after losing in their lone elimination round encounter.
Semifinal action in the women’s division resumes on Nov. 11 at the USC Main gym.
