AFTER SCORING its big win over JP Voltes Marikina FC in the Philippines Football League (PFL) last Sunday, Global Cebu FC head coach Akhbar Nawas could not help but applaud the efforts of his players.
Global Cebu downed JP Voltes Marikina, 2-1, on Sunday despite missing the services of some key players including team captain Misagh Bahadoran and Amani Aguinaldo, who were nursing different injuries.
Nawas said this couldn’t have been done without the effort of his booters.
“We came and we played, we got the three points that we wanted but it was not without the tremendous effort of the players,” Nawas said.
Aside from Aguinaldo and Mahadoran, the team was also without Rufo Sanchez and Darryl Roberts, who were serving suspensions.
“It is amazing every time the players go out there. They better themselves and do whatever they can and pulled out this kind of performance. They are the ones playing on the pitch, not me. So credit goes all to them.”
Stepping up were Paolo Salenga and Hikaru Minegishi, who scored the two goals for Global Cebu, and defensive midfielder Paul Maulders, who was named man of the match last Sunday.
Global Cebu is currently at fourth place in the standings with 37 points off 10 victories, five losses and seven draws.
