Unitec Pipes stormed all the way back from a 17-point deficit to stun the Boysen Paints, 62-60, in the Cebu Architects Basketball League last Sunday at the Benedicto College gym along A.S. Fortuna Street.
Boysen Paints’ defense was on point early as they held Unitec scoreless for 10 minutes to zoom off to a 24-7 lead.
Unitec slowly made its way back and was within seven, 39-46, heading to the last canto.
Unitec wingman Brian Acebedo took over in the fourth, scoring the bulk of his 30 points to pull the rug from under Boysen Paints and register their third win in as many games. Acebedo did more than just score as he added eight rebounds, four assists and five steals to his name.
In another game, Island Premium Paints kept in step as it earned a third win in a row with an 81-68 bashing of Phelps Dodge.
Four different players scored in double figures for the winning side led by the 16 of Justin Aspacio, the 14 of Mito Parba, the 13 of Alexander Vidal and the 10 of Paul Besinga.
Kalsi also registered its first win of the tournament after it beat Davies Paints, 85-71.
Michael Cinco paced Kalsi with 34 points while Allen Dinola notched 18.
