Cloudy Saturday for Metro Cebu, CV

METRO Cebu and Central Visayas have been spared of the severe effects of tropical storm “Quedan” and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

In a weather advisory issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday afternoon, Cebu will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies on Saturday.

Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are also expected in the afternoon.

“The localized thunderstorms may bring isolated lightning, strong winds, and occasional heavy rains,” the advisory reads.

Light to moderate winds blowing from west to northwest will prevail over Visayas. Pagasa also indicated in their advisory that the coastal waters of Cebu will be slight to moderate. But small fishing vessels are still advised to be cautious of weather changes.

Pagasa is also now tracking the movement of tropical storm “Quedan,” which was spotted 760 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Quedan is moving north northwest at 19 kilometers per hour (Kph), with maximum sustained winds of up to 90 Kph.

The ITCZ, meanwhile, has been giving moderate to occasional heavy rains in Mindanao, specifically in Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao and Caraga.
