THE 2008 Cottonseed continued its Cinderella-like run through the Division C playoffs in the 22nd SHAABAA Basketball Tournament as it ousted the second-seeded 2015 People’s General with a 44-40 win in Game 2 of the semifinals last Wednesday at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
Cottonseed’s win authored a 2-0 series sweep of the formidable People’s General squad.
Emil Gabuya championed 2008’s cause with 17 points while Albert Villegas added 10.
The loss was a bitter pill to swallow for Batch 2015 as Anton Chua did not get it going and finished with a mere nine points on 4-of-12 shooting.
Standing opposite Cottonseed in the finals will be the 2009 Crossfit Subtero-Primo Builders, which blew away the 2005 Bizol, 49-29, to also sweep their semis series, 2-0.
