Kay Abad-Castillo and Paul Jake Castillo excitedly wait for firstborn

BARELY two months away and celebrity couple Paul Jake and Kaye Abad-Castillo can finally hold their firstborn in their arms.

Kaye is due to deliver their baby —a boy—in Manila next month.  But prior to the much-awaited date, the couple had a baby shower party last Sunday at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel attended by close family and friends. Just like the gender reveal party held early October, the event  was organized by Aprica, a Japanese brand specializing in baby strollers.

“Very excited. Ako, I cannot wait na makita siya. Pinag-usapan namin na kung ano ang ugali nito,” Kaye said. “Siya gusto niyang gawing athlete.

Excited na siya,” the actress said, referring to Paul Jake. “Wala pa kaming baby’s room,” she added. Although the couple did not reveal the name they had chosen for the baby, Kaye mentioned “Chace” in an earlier interview with Cebu Daily News during the gender reveal party, as among the names they were considering.

Kaye also admitted that while she is excited to give birth, she also can’t help but feel scared. “Excited talaga ako at the same time natatakot ako kasi you will never know what will happen ‘eh. But I always pray na normal, and no complications. Sana okey lang lahat,” she said. To which Jake responded: “Sa dinami-dami nang nabuntis kinaya (nila), ikaw di mo kaya? Kakayanin niya talaga!”  The actor-turned-businessman then told his wife in jest: “Ma-Caesarian ka kung ‘di mo kakayanin. Sige, mamili ka: Caesarian or kakayanin mo? Push or Caesarian?” Kaye answered, “Gusto ko talaga push. Normal.”

EXPECTANT PARENTS

Both Kaye and Paul Jake admit that being first-time parents, they will need the help of their families in raising their child.

“I have no idea on how to raise a child. But  all I know is I’ll definitely mold the child to be like how my father raised me,” Paul Jake said.

“Kasi di ko pa alam. My sister and brother nakakadalawa na sila both.

I guess doon sila sa side na ‘yun,” Kaye said. Do they believe in disciplining their kid through spanking? “Syempre.

Sino bang ‘di dumaan sa spanking? Pinoy tayo ‘eh,” Paul Jake said.  “Yung spank lang siguro sa kamay. Or very light lang. Hindi ‘yung spank talaga. Dapat after doing that, you have to explain what they did para they know. Hindi ‘yung spank lang. Para maintindihan nila na what they did was wrong and we are just trying to discipline them. Para di na gawin ulit,” he added.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Sunday’s baby shower—which had the blue motif—was attended by the couple’s Cebu-based family and friends.

It was hosted by Trixie Mae Cabreros (DJ Chixie) of My Only Radio (MOR) Cebu.

Attendees joined several games like guessing the measurement of Kaye’s baby bump, bottle drinking milk, poop on diaper, a version of “Minute To Win It” and guessing who  between Kaye and Paul Jake decided on the baby’s name.

“Thank you for coming, for celebrating with us. This is our first baby so thank you. It’s very important to us. As you know, I only have few friends and family here so thank you,” Kaye said.

“As what she said, she only has a few friends. Thank you very much for coming. Thank you for spending your Sunday afternoon with us,” Paul Jake said.
