Ramon S. Ang reminds Ginebra after winning back-to-back PBA Govs’ cup titles
Humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
That was what San Miguel president and COO Ramon S. Ang reminded the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings and their legions of fans amid the celebration of their recent 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup conquest.
“I hope with this win, we’ll be humble and nice to everybody,” the SMC head honcho said in Filipino, addressing the Gin Kings Monday during their official victory party at the SMC Head Offices.
Ang is thankful that after nearly a decade of drought, coach Tim Cone was able to lead Ginebra to back-to-back titles in the season-ending conference amid a worthy adversary in Meralco.
“Ginebra waited for a championship in eight years. We won last year, and this year, even up to the final minute, we didn’t know if we could repeat. But we’re thankful that we’re able to win back-to-back,” he said.
San Miguel sports director Alfrancis Chua also likewise thanked the fans who trooped to the games and endlessly supported the crowd favorites.
“This celebration is for all of you, for the ka-barangay!,” the Ginebra team governor said as he led the ceremonial toast.
Ginebra’s title repeat smashed the gate attendance records, with Game 7 of the Finals drawing 54,086 fans to the cavernous Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
