DIGONG’S PROMISE
Many netizens reacted strongly on President Duterte’s announcement that he will offer houses and jobs to communist rebels who surrender to the government.
Daryl Alonzo wrote, “If that’s the case, then let’s all become part of the NPA. That’s probably the easiest way we can get houses and jobs. I believe this is just another pure talk of the president. Who’s going to believe this?”
James Gimena commented, “Those people sleeping on streets, those who do not have houses but are decently earning money — aren’t you going to give them anything, Mr. President? Now, you’re promising good things for those rebels who have put other citizens in danger. What kind of government are you running?”
Fermin Wong agreed. “Let’s all surrender. I am also an NPA, Mr. Duterte. Aren’t you giving me a house? What’s happening to our president? You’re crazy if you’ll fulfill this.”
Nathaniel Sucalit said, “What? Houses to surrenderers? How lucky are these people who caused instability to this country.”
Bitoyski Cebu said, “Where can we apply as a rebel? I’ll surrender immediately after I get hired so I can get a free house.”
