CEBUANA actress Kim Chiu has once more proven her bankability as her first solo starrer “The Ghost Bride” earned P14.3 million on its opening day.
Star Cinema’s official Facebook page made the announcement yesterday by posting the movie’s official poster and its first-day gross income.
“Million thank yous from the #TheGhostBride herself to everyone who watched and will watch the horror film! #TheGhostBrideDayII,” the post stated. On her Instagram account (@chinitaprincess) thanked her supporters for watching “The Ghost Bride.”
It is her first movie without a love team partner ever since she joined showbiz in 2006, after being declared Pinoy Big Brother’s first teen winner.
“All in his mighty name!! Words can’t explain what I am feeling right now… sobra… SALAMAT panginoon, salamat direk @chitorono, salamat @starcinema at salamat po sa inyong lahat ng nanood sa first day namin kahapon… #TheGhostBride on its second day! To God be all the Glory!” Chiu posted.
Award-winning actor Christian Bables, one of the stars of the film, also took to Instagram yesterday to thank their supporters.
“Maraming thank you, sa mga hindi pa nakakapanood, sugod na po sa mga sinehan,” Bables said.
Directed by Chito S. Roño, “The Ghost Bride” also stars Alice Dixson, Ina Raymundo, Robert Seña, Beverly Salviejo, Mon Confiado, Kakai Bautista, and Mateo Guidicelli. Replete with Chinese customs and traditions, the film’s plot revolves around a character named Mayen played by Chiu whose family experiences a series of unfortunate events after she accepts a mysterious “business proposal” from Miss Lao (Dixson) in exchange for a huge amount of money. Chiu and Guidicelli were in Cebu yesterday for a theater tour to promote the film.
