Duron settles for third place

CEBUANO cyclist Jun Duron placed third in the Men Master A cross-country event of the 2017 Siol International Mountain Bike Challenge and Asian Mountain Bike Series in Kuching City, Malaysia, last Saturday.

The 32-year-old Duron of Rapidino Race Team finished the race in 1 hour, 12 minutes and 52 seconds.

Sharin Amir of Evanda Corssmac sucessfully defended his crown as he clocked in 1:10:05. Kusnadi Kusnadi of Teagal Indonesia came in second at 1:12:45.

Duron, who finished second last year in Siol and the overall champion in Asian Mountain Bike series, said the changes in the course made this year’s edition tougher.

“There were more technical climbs. It was really steep then it had roots. Then there were portions that I had to carry my bike uphill. There were also muddy portions,” said Duron.

The rider from Talisay City said that his former teammate Kusnadi overtook him near the finish line as he admitted that he ran out of strength and endurance due to lack of training.

Duron said that his next race will be a local race in Timberland Heights in San Mateo town, Rizal.
