CEBU has hosted the Cebu 10s Rugby Festival for the past nine years, but the hosts Cebu Dragons have yet to win the tournament in all those years.
This Saturday, the Dragons hope to end the slump as they compete in the 10th Cebu 10s Rugby Festival at the Cebu International School.
The Cebu Dragons, who were just semifinalist in last year’s edition, will be relying on the contributions of skipper Geoffrey Veraces, Rey Apostol, Albert Gabi, John Titus, Allan Tavil in a tough playing field that will feature defending champions Alabang Eagles, Manila Nomads and the Albay Vulcans.
Other teams that will be contending for the title in the one-day tournament include the Dadiangas Generals, University of Southern Philippines Foundation, Rhinos of Singapore, Southwestern Kings, University of San Carlos Warriors, Lapu-Lapu Jets, Paddy’s Pensies, Shanghai Dolphins and Manila Hapons.
Meanwhile, the Cebu Dragons U-19 squad will be divided into two teams and will play a tune-up game in the competition to encourage kids to start playing the sport.
