WE ARE CEBU

JOSE Antonio Nigro opens his seventh solo photography exhibit titled “We are Cebu” on Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cuerpo de Guardia in Fort San Pedro. It will be open for public viewing from Nov. 23 to 30.

The Italian-Venezuelan photographer will showcase different aspects of Cebu society from his point of view. As he says it:
“These are in a series of low key lighting portraits which represent a visual essay of an intimate conversation between the subject and the photographer.”

He adds: “Being a foreigner in a country, learning from the culture, religion, society and diversity are the most rewarding experiences a person can have in life.”

“We Are Cebu” is Jose Antonio’s way to give back and express his gratitude to Cebu for being his home for over four years.

To him, Fort San Pedro is one of his favorite historical sites in the city—the perfect background to showcase his work linking history, heritage and culture to this very local theme.

Jose Antonio has always been interested in documentary photography, striving to capture an image’s beauty and significance during a precise and unique moment in time.

Exploring the human figure, his work integrates simplicity, strength, and feelings with varying aspects of human life. “We Are Cebu” comprises 24 subjects.
