The Siquijor Provincial Police Office (SPPO) has a new police director after its former chief was promoted to Camp Crame.
Senior Supt. Clarito Baja assumed his post on Thursday after he was appointed by the Police Regional Office (PRO-7) to replace Senior Supt. Erson Digal.
Digal, who served as director of SPPO for two years and three months, was moved to division chief in the Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development in Camp Crame.
“It’s time for him (Digal) to be promoted to a higher position,” said Chief Supt. Jose Mario Espino, PRO-7 director.
Although the police are barred from conducting police operations, Espino said Baja can still help the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in gathering intelligence on the illegal drug operations in Siquijor.
“Siquijor is a very peaceful place,” Espino said.
