FR. Jonas Mejares, also known as the “singing Augustinian priest,” takes part in a concert for a cause.
The proceeds of the event will go to the Shepherd’s Voice Cebu Inc. for their mission and various apostolic works and to the different lay religious communities and special projects of the universal church.
The upcoming concert is called “Rockin’ Around: A Christmas Concert for a Cause” which will be held at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino this coming November 25 at 6 p.m.
Mejares has been able to sing alongside other artists in concerts he performed in the past.
For the upcoming concert on November 25, Mejares will be performing with Yeng Constantino.
“The first time we did a concert, if my memory serves right, was 10 years ago at the University of San Augustin,” he recalled while showing a photo album as proof.
When asked about how he was able to maintain the quality of his voice, Mejares laughed and said a good amount of sleep was his only secret.
Rockin’ Around will also be featuring Kim Chiu, Mustard Seed Band, ABBA Choir as well as Reverend Fr. Romeo “Dodong” Desuyo of the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Love songs and Pinoy rock songs will also be sung during the concert.
Also to perform are the renowned San Diego Dance Troupe and the Knapsack dancers.
Concert tickets range from P500 to P2,500 and are available at the Shepherd’s Voice Shoemart outlet, Waterfront hotel and Sto. Niño church in Mohon, Talisay City.
