THE UNIVERSITY of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) girls team came up short on its semifinals bid but was able to finish strong, logging two straight wins in the Rebisco Volleyball League yesterday at the City of Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna.
After scoring a lopsided 25-17, 25-9 victory over Angelicum Learning Center late Thursday night, the Baby Jaguars continued their momentum and survived UAAP powerhouse Far Eastern University, 22-25, 25-20, 25-15, to finish the tournament with a respectable 2-3 (win-loss) card.
Earlier in the tournament, USJ-R dropped their first three games losing to Holy Rosary College (25-20, 28-26), Bacolod Tay Tung High School (25-17, 25-23) and the De La Salle Lipa (25-18, 25-12).
The Baby Jaguars are composed of Cherry Sumayang, Janine Angob, Shiela Kiseo, Dianne Duazo, Chenie Tagaod, Maybelle Cabaron, sisters Krizzia and Chriszelle Cassi, reinforcements Jennifer delos Santos, Kaye Santos and Danielle Malazarte of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, and Pierre Angeli Abellana of the University of San Carlos.
