Karla’s love

AS THE adage goes, “Behind every successful man is a great woman.”

Meet Karla Kintanar-Fernandez, the other half of PBA legend Ramon “El Presidente” Fernandez. Don’t let her slight height fool you, folks.

The woman’s got pedigree —coming from one of the most prominent families in Argao, Cebu—the smarts, and class. As confident as she is charming, she can certainly hold her own among VIPs. Let’s go through some photos to get a sense of what makes Karla swoon.

MON AMOUR

We’ve been together for more than a decade already. Our age
difference is quite wide but that’s
“sacred” info … it won’t make Mon happy.

COMPARING HEIGHT

Im 5’3” while Mon is 6’5”. The wide gap has its advantages and disadvantages, but overall, it doesnt really matter. I think it’s kinda cute!

SIGHTSEEING

I’ve been to Russia, USA, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands/Holland, Belgium, United Kingdom/London, Japan, Hongkong/Macau, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, China, United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Australia, Czechoslovakia, Portugal. Looking forward to visiting Spain, South Africa, Turkey, South America and Iceland.

DESIGNER BAG

I think it’s safe to say I have more than 20—Hermes, Celine, Givenchy, Chloe, Mulberry, YSL, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, and my favorite brand that is Chanel. Simpler brands I go for are Longchamp, Tumi, Lipault, Rabeanco and Furla.

BEAUTY AND BALANCE

I keep a simple beauty regimen… organic facial soap, pore minimizing toner, night cream, and eye cream.

I take Vitamin C and E every day.

Playing with my adorable pets also keeps me young.

This helps me maintain my good temperament and cool disposition, and it certainly stops wrinkles from developing.

I believe it’s really about keeping a positive attitude. I don’t complicate life. If things become complicated for some good reason, I face it with an open heart and an open mind, plus lots and lots of prayers for guidance and good judgment.

My late dad used to remind me that the key to real happiness is to simplify life.

So through the years, I’ve weeded out all the negatives in my life. I focus on those that contribute to my personal development and embrace those that have kept me going as a responsible and God-fearing person.

Part of simplifying my life is to give my body the much-needed caring like doing away with too much “night life” and everything that goes with it.

THEIR MULTI-DOG HOUSEHOLD

We have 15. Whippets, pug (rare, black color), German Shepherd (champion line), Belgian Malinois, designer dogs (from pure whippet mother and pure German Shepherd father). Five dogs sleep with us in our bedroom.

MUST LOVE DOGS

“I grew up with Old English Sheepdogs in the house. A black poodle was one of the best birthday gifts I received from my parents.

I remember that moment—I was in Grade School and my mommy Lee was picking me up.

When I entered the car, I saw something moving underneath her scarf.

I lifted it and saw a cute black puppy looking up to greet me. I named her Kelly, from the character played by my favorite original Charlie’s Angel’s actress Jacklyn Smith.

PAMPERED POOCHES

The one who’s closest to me now is our “rant of the litter”—a whippet named Khaki.

She is quite frail that vet and hospital visits are not a new thing to her. Even when we’re away, I’d check on her. Our black pug Clottey is the most spoiled.

With Mon, he’s very clingy, like he knows he has a pretty strong backer. Haha!

CANINE CARE

Mon and I support any canine organization that comes to us.

In Cebu, we have shared a bit to the Island Rescue Organization (IRO).

We have an informal group of pet-lover friends who we interact with regularly for support.
