A RETIRED police officer was arrested as he was about to board a vessel at the port area of Danao City at 6 p.m. last Friday.
Diosdado Papillero, a 66-year-old native of Albuera City in Leyte, is now detained at the Danao City Police Precinct for possession of two loaded pistols and ammunition.
PO1 Mark Anthony Manulat of the Danao City Police Precinct said they received information about Papillero and stopped him from boarding the vessel bound for Albuera City.
Manulat said Papillero is under investigation for allegedly being a gun runner who sells firearms bought from Danao City to Albuera.
Charges of illegal firearms possession will be filed against him tomorrow.
In Balamban town, police arrested a resident on charges of illegal firearms possession at his home in Barangay Cambuhawe last Friday morning.
Chief Insp. Janette Rafter, Balamban Police Precinct chief, said they raided Alfie Delfin’s home after being issued a search warrant.
Confiscated from Delfin were one grenade and one loaded pistol. She said they will examine the pistol to see if Delfin used it.
