MINGLANILLA kept the top spot in the Samsam Gullas Cup 2017 with a hard-earned 60-57 win over the homecourt-toting Sibonga Sunday night at the Sibonga Sports Complex.
After breaking out in the last game for a whopping 37 points, 15-year-old prodigy Steve Nash Enriquez continued his fine play, this time scoring 19 points.
The nephew of the late great Cebuano guard Woodraw Enriquez also had three rebounds and four steals to lead Minglanilla to its third win in four games.
Minglanilla now owns the top spot in Division B with their 3-1 (win-loss) record.
In other matches, Naga and Talisay are tied for the lead in Division A after they trounced their respective opponents.
The defending champions Talisay edged San Fernando, 57-56, thanks to the all-around performance of Ronan Briones, who had six points, five rebounds and four steals.
Naga, on the other hand, rode the spectacular outing of Keith Visayas, who had 36 points, eight boards and four steals in an 88-75 conquest of Carcar.
Naga and Talisay have similar 3-2 cards.
