BOGO City is the most competitive component city while Consolacion and four other towns are the most competitive towns in Cebu based on the Provincial
Competitiveness Challenge held by the Cebu Investments and Promotions Office (CIPO).
The CIPO held last Tuesday evening an awarding ceremony for local governments in Cebu in relation to the challenge, the province’s counterpart to the National
Competitive Index of the National Competitiveness Council (NCC).
Bogo City officials received a plaque and cash incentives worth P750,000 while the towns of Consolacion, Tuburan, Cordova, Sogod and Boljoon each received P500,000 as recognition for their development.
The towns of Dumanjug, Moalboal, Badian and San Remigio each received P100,000 for their efforts towards developing livelihood opportunities, local infrastructure, and resiliency, respectively.
The CIPO awarding ceremony came three months after the NCC released the results of their National Competitiveness Index this year among the country’s provinces, cities and towns.
This year Cebu dropped to 45th place next only to Abra province. It ranked third two years ago and 31st place last year.
