Hubby, 49, electrocuted at his aunt’s wake

A MAN was electrocuted at the wake of his aunt on Friday in Barangay Poblacion, Aloguinsan, a southwestern town 59 km from Cebu City.

Reneboy Biton, 33, died after he rushed in to save his wife, Remalie Biton, 29, who was hit by an electric shock when she accidentally touched a grounded vigil light bulb, said PO2 Marvin Ubahib of the Aloguinsan Police Station.

Ubahib said that Remalie was fixing a curtain behind the coffin, which was pulled down by the couple’s two-year-old son, when she touched the grounded light bulb.

Reneboy rushed to pull his wife away from the light bulb when he saw her body shaking.

But, Ubahib said, when Reneboy grabbed the hand of Remalie and tried to pull her away from the light bulb, the electric current in Remalie’s body transferred to Reneboy causing him to lose consciousness.

Relatives rushed him to the hospital, but he did not reach the hospital alive.

Remalie survived the accident with only a sore calf.
