SM Seaside brings to you the first art exhibition in Cebu of artist Francis Nacion Jr. His works are creations of happiness through playful colors that recreate well-loved images found in many paintings done by Fernando Amorsolo and other national and established artists of today.
Using his signature sgraffito (scratching and etching) painting techniques and combining them with applied textile decoupage; Nacion presents ornate and colorful mother-and-child, courtship scenes, religious imagery, as well as other iconic subjects which represent abundance and bounty.
His 9th solo exhibition dubbed as the Imaginary World, Nacion showcases 25 lavish works done with near baroque detail: 15 artworks done using oil canvas and the other 10 on paper.
The artist decided to have his solo exhibit in Cebu particularly at SM Seaside City as he believes that his works appeal to the innately happy and jolly Cebuanos.
According to the artist, he wanted to leave a legacy of happiness in his works. “Cebuanos are fascinating people who are vibrant and colorful, and rightly proud of their culture. I tried to capture it in the subjects and themes for Imaginary World, as the happiness and passion they exude every day in their culture resonates with my work,” Nacion said. /PR
