Mayweather says he ‘carried’ McGregor through 10 rounds

ALTHOUGH Conor McGregor came out on the losing end during his match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. last August, fight fans lauded the UFC superstar for lasting 10 rounds against a certified boxing legend.

But if Mayweather’s latest verbal tirade is true, “Money” actually took it easy against the mixed martial artist, to make the fight much more appealing to the fans.

In a now viral rant posted by FightHype.com, the 40-year-old undefeated slugger claimed that he intentionally made himself look vulnerable against the Irish fighter, suggesting he could have ended the fight much sooner.

“Everybody trying to protest the Mayweather/McGregor fight, but I’m gonna tell you all the truth,” said Mayweather. “You know I carried McGregor. You know I made it look good for you all.”

His bold proclamation comes after the scorecard indicated that McGregor won the first three rounds of their bout.

Pundits, however, have long speculated that the elusive defensive tactician actually gave the early rounds in an effort to tire McGregor.

Apart from ripping McGregor, Mayweather also set his sights on former opponent Oscar De La Hoya for his supposed “hypocrisy.”

Prior to the “Fight of the Century,” De La Hoya was vehemently against the crossover fight, calling it “bad for boxing.”

“Wasn’t Oscar De La Hoya the same one trying to protest and stop the fight?” the brash Mayweather quipped. “Now, he trying to fight Conor McGregor. Is he a hypocrite or is he back on coke again?”
