There were no drugs, only fewer drug paraphernalia and other contraband seized in another Operation Greyhound done at one of the buildings of the Cebu City Jail in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City, at 5 a.m. yesterday.
“The number of contraband has dwindled (compared to previous raids). But we could not be complacent because some prisoners will really find ways to get hold of illegal items,” Jail Warden Renante Rubio said.
Seized during yesterday’s Greyhound operation were drug paraphernalia that include lighters and tin foils, 10 cell phones, bladed weapons and a few gadgets.
Rubio said they sought the assistance of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Cebu City Police Office, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to conduct an Operation Greyhound inside the Cebu City Jail’s Drug Offenders Building.
Rubio, who became warden barely a month ago, said he decided to conduct Greyhound operations every day.
“We do it per cells, hoping to get rid of illegal drugs and other contraband,” he said.
Rubio reminded visitors to stop sneaking in contraband into the jail lest they are arrested and charged.
