Unstable weather looms on weekend

The public is urged to prepare for unstable weather conditions in Cebu as the state weather bureau forecasts hot mornings and rain showers in the afternoon this weekend.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pag-asa)Mactan Office officer-in-charge Al Quiblat said the unstable weather condition is due to a cloud formation spotted 2,100 km east of Mindanao.

“Although layo ni siya, dili ra ta angay mabalaka (We need not be concerned) because the cloud formation does not have a high chance of forming into a low-pressure area,” Quiblant said.

Rainshowers and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening can be expected, added Quiblat.

“There will be rains in the afternoon especially in the evening, but it will only last up to 30 minutes to an hour,” Quiblat said.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast to north will also prevail over the Visayas.

Quiblat also said that seas off the Cebu coast will be light to moderate, which is considerably a good condition for fishing.

However, small fishing boats and vessels are still advised to take note of weather changes.

To ensure safety especially for outdoor activities, Pagasa encourages everyone to monitor weather updates from the Pagasa social media accounts.
