Couple nabbed for stabbing collector

A COUPLE was arrested by the police after allegedly stabbing a collector of an appliance store in Lapu-Lapu City.

Kenneth Gerboso, 45, and his wife Rosy, 40, of Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City were detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office pending the filing of attempted homicide case against them.

According to PO1 Marian Eyas, investigator of Marigondon Police Station, Junrell Gargar, 25, collector of an appliance center in Barangay Basak, was collecting the amount due from Kenneth for an amplifier which the latter purchased from the center through an installment plan. Gargar told police that he was confronted by Kenneth and challenged to a fistfight prompting him to go away and later come back with his two colleagues, but insteadhe was  attacked by Rosy with a knife.

Gargar sustained a cut in his face.But according to Kenneth, a tricycle driver, they appealed to Gargar to come back next week as they don’t have money yet, but Gargar confronted them, prompting him to challenge the collector to a fistfight.

Rosy said Gargar confronted them when he came back and even threatened to harm her and her 10-year old child with a knife but she was able to grab the weapon and thrust it to Gargar causing him injury.

Kenneth said the victim offered to settle the case provided he be paid P70,000 as damages.“Self defense ra gud tong amo-a kay ila man gibinaklid akong asawa ug anak  (We just defended ourselves from harm),” said Kenneth.

The couple can post P10,000 bail each for their temporary liberty.
