The San Carlos Seminary College (SCSC) is all set for their choral concert dubbed as “Kagahapon, Karon” on December 14–17 at the SCSC auditorium.
The concert, directed by renowned composer Msgr. Rudy Villanueva and Fr. Benedicto Tao, will have matinee performances on December 14 and 15 at 2 p.m., with the concert proper to be held at 7:30 p.m. on both dates.
The concert for December 16 and 17 will be held at 8 p.m.
“We decided on this title (“Kagahapon, Karon”), because this concert will render songs that we already presented before,” Tao told Cebu Daily News in a phone interview.
The concert also serves as an annual fund-raising event for the seminary’s student programs.
Performers include the SCSC grand choir composed of 57 seminarians, selected priests, former seminarians, and local artists such as veteran singer Girlie Lapinid Las Piñas, and Jerry Matillano, among others.
One of the highlights of the concert will be the choral rendition of Villanueva’s award-winning song “Himig Gloria.”
“We hope that the people will enjoy, because these songs, these arrangements made by Monsignor Rudy, they are always entertaining for the general audience,” said Tao.
Tao also added that this is their first time to hold the concert in the venue, which can accommodate only 210 people, unlike before where they had it in malls such as SM City Cebu or Ayala Center Cebu.
James Aaron Fanlo, one of the 20 newly invested seminarians, said they will also sing “Ayaw, ayaw,” “Barkada,” “Pasko Sa Balay,” “O Quam Amabilis,” “Gising Na,” and Ryan Cayabyab’s “Kumukumukutitap.”
Tickets are pegged at P100 for the matinee, P300 for the general admission and P500 for the VIP.
