KALSI OUSTED the higher-seeded Island Paints, 63-55, in their rubbermatch to advance to the finals of the Cebu Architects Basketball Club Corporate Cup 2017 last Sunday at the Benedicto College Gym along A.S. Fortuna Street.
Kalsi now moves on to the winner-take-all finals this Sunday against the top-ranked Unitec Pipes. Curiously, Kalsi is the only team to beat Unitec this season.
Veteran gunner Mike Cinco tallied 23 points, seven boards, two assists and three steals to tow Kalsi to the next round. Jonathan Suico also backed him up with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
It was a nip-and-tuck game wherein Kalsi led, 40-37, heading to the final canto. But the fourth period belonged to Kalsi as they outscored Island Paints, 23-18, to author the victory.
Justin Aspacio led the way for Island Paints with 22 points while big man Elmer Laguna had 13 markers.
