THE SOUTHWESTERN University- Phinma (SWU) Cobras look to continue their dominance in the 2017 Cesafi beach volleyball as their teams compete in the semifinal round today at the Fort San Pedro sand court.
SWU’s boys, girls, men’s, and women’s teams all qualified for the semifinal round.
The women’s squad of SWU takes on the University of Cebu (UC), while no. 1 ranked University of San Jose- Recoletos (USJ-R) battle no. 4 University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) in the other semis pairing.
SWU women’s head coach Roy Ulan said he is happy where his team is right now.
“For me whatever the result of this, I just feel grateful. That’s a big achievement of my team to be a part of the semis and soon to be in the finals. As long as the decision of the referee is fair and my players are enjoying the game, I’m happy,” he said.
In the girls’ division, defending champion SWU will be up against a tough foe as it takes on the top ranked USPF. UC and USJ-R also meet in the other final four matchup.
SWU is no. 1 in the boys competition and will take on USPF while UC takes on USC.
In the men’s play, the University of the Visayas (UV) battles the Cebu Institute of Technology- University (CIT-U) while USJ-R jostle against SWU in the morning to finalize their seedings. They start their semis encounter later in the afternoon.
