Is Tangub the new center of the world?
For now, yes. Dubai, Japan, France, Korea—just a stone’s throw away.
“I want to bring the people closer to the world, especially those who cannot travel,” says Dr. Jennifer Wee-Tan who spearheaded the beautification during the holiday season for 25 years in Tangub City, the “Christmas Symbols Capital of the Philippines,” in Misamis Occidental.
Great expectations set their hearts ablaze.
For six years, “Around the World in Tangub“ runs in the international landmarks conceptualized into a life-size Christmas village, open from this month through the early days of January 2018.
Curious as this news may be, the word of the moment is whimsical.
The delicious colors, a few of December’s reasons to be cheerful. Jewel tones make us particularly crave for more as do sky blues and sunshine yellows.
But above all, red: It’s the color (and the mood). Some prints let you crack a smile: polka dots, leopard spots, and candy-striped.
And flowers. Armloads of them — lilies, roses, and daisies — scattered about with reckless abandon … plus the weekend fireworks display at the plaza.
To the unconvinced, just one final word: ingenuity.
