3 Labogon officials under preventive suspension for graft charges

Labogon barangay captain Renato Suson and two ally barangay councilors were ordered suspended for two months pending investigation of the graft charge against them.

A copy of the suspension order signed by Mandaue Vice Mayor Carlo Fortuna, was sent to the Labogon barangay hall on Thursday morning.

The order directed Suson and barangay councilors Alfredo Estrada and Benwilson Bodo Jr. to cease and desist from performing their respective functions in the next 60 days.

The suspension order stemmed from a complaint filed by barangay councilors Corazon Dajao-Tumulak, Marvin Soco and Baby Besabella Gutierez who accused Suson and the two others of facilitating the purchase of construction materials in the absence of a delivery receipt.

“The fact that there was no actual receipt of delivery of the 65 bags of cement, 5 cubic meters of gravel, 5 cubic meters of sand and 1,000 pieces of hallow blocks are very serious charges against the Government Procurement Reform Act,” said a committee report that was attached to the suspension order.

Suson could not be reached for comment as of press time. But in an early morning interview with radio dyAB, Suson said, he has documents to show that the purchase was legitimate.

The barangay captain, Estrada and Bodo were not also around when a lawyer from the City Legal Office visited the barangay hall to serve the suspension order past 9 a.m. on Thursday.
