Capitol gives cash bonus to barangay workers

IT is going to be a happy new year for 60,000 barangay workers in Cebu province.

Cebu Provincial Budget Officer Danilo Rodas said distribution of cash bonus to barangay health workers, barangay animal health aides, barangay police officers (tanod) and members of the Pacification Committee (Lupong Tagapamayapa) started early this month.

Cash distribution is expected to be completed today (December 29) before government offices go on vacation for the New Year celebration.

Rodas said P60 million was allocated from the 2017 annual budget which was distributed as cash bonus to barangay workers.

Health workers and animal health aides will receive P2,400 each, while tanods and lupon members will receive P1,500 each.

“Lahi ang amount nga nadawat sa mga BHW ug sa mga tanod kay base ra pud na sa recommendations sa mga department heads,” said Rodas.

(Barangay health workers and barangay police received different figures based on the recommendations of the department heads.)

The cash bonus of health workers and animal health aides was sourced from the Support of Front Line Workers funds under the Governor’s Office Special Purpose and Appropriations budget.

The tanod and lupon members’ cash bonus was from the Peace and Order Appropriations budget of the province.
