LIGHT emitting diode (LED) walls will surround the stage for the performances and dance presentations during the Sinulog Mardi Gras.
Eighteen sets of LED screens measuring 10 ft by 14 ft each will be installed.
“Sinulog 2018 will be a different one from the last year because all will be LED, that’s why people should expect much more high-tech and modern presentations with the use of LED wall and we will have a much better sound system now,” Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, Sinulog executive committee chairman, said.
A P500,000 budget was allocated for the installation of the stage alone, the LED screens and the sound system are not included, he said.
Last Wednesday, Tumulak said they already started putting up the scaffoldings for the stage, which was actually delayed because of inclement weather.
“The presentations will complement the LED walls, depending on their video. So even though expensive, at least this will improve the production side,” he said.
Trees and floral decorations, which were used in the previous years, will no longer be placed on the stage.
The Sinulog Grand Parade is scheduled on the third week of January.
More contingents are joining this year’s grand parade, as compared to the 23 groups that joined last year.
According to the official list of performers, of the 37 contingents, 10 are from outside Cebu. There are seven contingents for the Sinulog sa Lalawigan and 20 contingents for the Sinulog sa Barangay.
Tumulak said the city government will continue to give the subsidies of P300,000 to each contingent as approved by the City Council.
He said the Sinulog Foundation Incorporated (SFI) plans to increase the subsidies as their counterpart to the allocated budget of the city government./Correspondent
