‘Barcelona: A love untold’ wins at FAMAS Awards

KATHNIEL fans have a reason to celebrate as Star Cinema’s “Barcelona: A Love Untold” headlined by Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla was named Best Picture during the 65th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards held at the Philippine Social Science
Center Auditorium in Quezon City last Thursday, December 28.

The movie also bagged other major awards such as Best Director for Olivia M. Lamasan and Best Actor for Padilla. It also won for Sharie Marie Montiague the Best Production Design award.

Released in 2016, “Barcelona: A Love Untold” is a drama romance about letting go and moving on. It’s about Ely (Padilla) whose girlfriend Celine died in a vehicular accident.

He then move to Barcelona to pursue his Masters Degree in Architecture while working there as a tour guide.

Mia (Bernardo) also moves to Barcelona and lives with a friend as she wants to make her family proud after she disappointed them during her student days.

Unfortunately, Mia’s friend fails to give her a job in Barcelona and she is forced to look for another place to live.

Ely offers Mia to temporarily live with his aunt in Barcelona. Mia does not know that Ely has not yet moved on from her girlfriend, Celine, who happens to look like her.

Actress Karla Estrada, Padilla’s mother, took to Twitter yesterday to congratulate KathNiel.

“Congrats team Barcelona! Congrats KathNiel! GOD IS SO GREAT! TO GOD BE THE GLORY,” she said.

Meanwhile, Angelica Panganiban won the Best Actress award for “The Unmarried Wife,” while Ricky Davao and Liza Diño Seguerra brought home the Best Supporting Actor and Best Actress honors, respectively. Davao starred in “Iadya Mo Kami” while Diño-Seguerra won for “Ringgo.”

The Best Child Performer award went to Lance Lucideo for his role in “Ringgo.”

Vanessa Valdez bagged the Best Screenplay award for the film “The Unmarried Wife,” while Aurel Claro Bilbao won Best Sound Design for the film “Everything About Her.”

Beng Bandong received Best Editing honors for the 2016 film, “Vince and Kath and James.”

Susan Roces and Amalia Fuentes: Lifetime Achievement Award
