OFFICIALS of Barangay Pasil, Cebu City, want a footbridge connecting Sitio Magsaysay to Barangay Ermita demolished.
This, after several Pasil residents complained that the bridge was being used for illegal drug transactions.
Pasil Barangay Captain Julius Guioguio disclosed that a village resolution was passed asking the Cebu City government to demolish the footbridge.
“That bridge is being used by Ermita drug distributors to transact business,” said Guioguio in Cebuano.
Guioguio said that the recommendation to demolish the footbridge came from the Barangay Anti-Drugs Abuse Council (BADAC) as even children, ages 9 to 11 years old, believed to be illegal drug couriers are seen loitering in the area.
“Wala na man sad kayo agii sa mga tawo ang bridge kay mahadlok na lagi sila mangagi (Besides, not too many people pass that bridge anymore because they are scared to pass there),” Guioguio said.
Aside from the footbridge in Sitio Magsaysay, another footbridge in Tupaz Street connects barangays Ermita and Pasil.
